Mercedes-Benz Expands CLA-Class to Include AMG

Starting with the 2014 NAIAS event, the automotive world has relished a myriad of Mercedes-Benz events, releases, and unveilings. This activity yielded dozens of photographs, videos, and articles that gave consumers an idea of the car manufacturer’s direction. In recent years, the German company has expanded its line of models, including the Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.

The CLA-Class is a unique “four-door coupe” that hit showroom floors with many accolades and commendations. Though it was received well, the CLA, for some, feels somewhat restrictive inside the cabin; therefore, the automaker developed a solution. It built a CLA Shooting Brake model for those who need a few extra inches of head space and leg room. We now know – thanks to Carscoops.com – that Mercedes-Benz had more in planning and development.

It has been confirmed through photographic evidence that a CLA 45 AMG® model is currently road testing. Similar to the CLS Shooting Brake AMG®, this new model can be identified as an AMG® by its distinguished body: sculpted bumpers, quad exhaust pipes flanking the rear diffuser, side skirts, and a modified grille. Other markers were highlighted by Carscoops, which you can read here.

As an AMG®, this CLA will likely boast a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four that can crank out 355 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This power is delivered through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz, as with all of its cars, will once again provide a superior driving experience.

Mercedes-Benz has not issued a release date, though most sources anticipate the CLA 45 AMG® will reach dealerships by early 2015.
