Mercedes-Benz Introduces S600 at NAIAS

There is no doubt that Mercedes-Benz possesses a unique panache that people gravitate towards. That is why yesterday at the opening of the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) , the German automaker drew a large audience for its first major announcement: the 2015 Mercedes-Benz S600.

Already renowned for its opulence, Mercedes-Benz placed great emphasis on providing new standard features, as well as a much more powerful engine. Though it may be smaller in stature than some of the vehicle Mercedes-Benz has introduced in previous years, this refined beast houses a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V-12 engine that powers out 523 horsepower and 612 lb-ft of torque.

More power isn’t the only new standard feature of this car. Every S600 will also have stop-start capability, MAGIC BODY CONTROL® active suspension with Road Surface Scan, and the Driving Assistance Package (DAP). The DAP includes active lane keeping assist, active blind spot assist, distronic plus, pre-safe plus, and more.

For the driver, he or she can enjoy an updated touchpad display that can recognize handwritten characters. This is quite advantageous as drivers do not have to take their eyes off of the road; however, should the potential for an accident arise, the standard Collision Prevention Assist Plus will help prevent the crash at speeds greater than 4 MPH – that’s right, a car concerned with self-preservation.
